Week of Feb. 20

 We started our week with a trip to Heritage Park. Students learned what life was like in Alberta in the early 1900's. Each student received a day pass to use at Heritage Park that they brought home on Friday.   -we learned about the settlers, railroad, made butter, saw a sod house and did some word working -we played a fur trade game at school by doing a scavenger hunt for beaver pelts and trading them for different supplies then explained why we chose the items we did -we continue to focus on paragraphs and turned our worm research into an informative paragraph -we are showing different strategies and ways to model division in math -we looked at some petroglyphs from Writing on Stone and will work on some symbol stories in the upcoming week

 Over the past few weeks: -we have been working on their math geometry art projects  -we have been learning about triangles and how to identify them based on angles and sides -we learned how to use a protractor to measure acute, obtuse and right angles -we are learning about voyageurs and the fur trade -we are learning about the scientific method by designing our own experiments with our red wiggler worms -watched some authours read parts of their books on World Read Aloud Day -we are learning how to write paragraphs -presented our readers theater plays for our buddy class -learned about the difference between bullying, mean and rude behavior and how to react to each
